In April, the UK government will set the world’s most ambitious climate change target; to reduce emissions by 78% by 2035 compared with 1990 levels and will further pledge to achieve net zero by 2050.

Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said:

“The UK is leading the world in tackling climate change and today’s announcement means our low carbon future is now in sight. The targets we’ve set ourselves in the sixth Carbon Budget will see us go further and faster than any other major economy to achieve a completely carbon neutral future.”

We each have a duty to be more conscious and aware of our environmental impact and take whatever steps we can to reduce the carbon footprint of our business.

Improving the eco credentials and green culture of your business shouldn’t just include the obvious things. Eco friendly utilities, vehicles and buildings aren’t the only way you can reduce the carbon impact of your company.

The use of strategic technology solutions offers some real advantages to cut costs, reduce carbon and improve green credentials. Well executed Unified Communications (UC) solutions enable us to significantly reduce hardware consumption and travel.

As well as the fact that cloud UC doesn’t require the production or powering of clunky on-premise hardware, slick desktop and smartphone software means most users no longer require dedicated endpoint telephone system hardware. Sure, some people still buy phones, but lots of clients are deciding it’s time to cut the (curly) cord. The production, shipping, power and maintenance of this type of hardware all has an impact.

The same solutions also provide opportunities for businesses and staff to reconsider how much they travel for work. From regular, local commutes to international travel.

Effective remote working requires streamlined and professional communications. UC services provide a consistent experience for staff from wherever they choose to work, maintaining the high professional standards we demand. Video has seen most embrace the chance to consider how many client meetings they need to attend, but the technology has to be straight-forward, secure and dependable to build peoples trust and change habits.

At Agile, we support our clients to ‘go green’ by providing simple, flexible and robust communications solutions including a range of market-leading UC services. Get in touch to find out more.
